Department of Water Management crews are working on lead service line replacements on Rogers from Ashland to Greenview.

The sewer work at Rogers, Howard, and Greenview is complete, and the intersection has been reopened. However, it may have to close in a few weeks again to pour the concrete base. Crews project all concrete bases will be poured by the end of June. Once the base is poured, Chicago's in-house crews will return to work on water services. After that, crews can then begin to pour new asphalt and transition to the restoration phase of the project.

January 21, 2023

Crews mobilized on site this week. However, there is a water main that must be temporarily removed and replaced to allow for the new sewer to be constructed. While sewer plans accounted for the water main, crews found that the configuration in the field is different than what was in the plans. With an infrastructure that is over 100 years old, crews do their best to go off of any records of what is underground or best guesses based on what they've encountered in other areas. Sometimes there are discrepancies once the ground is open. This means that crews now have to revise their plan in order to proceed with the sewer work. Crews hope to be back on site in the next week or two to continue with the sewer work.

January 14, 2023

Crews continue to await for approval from the Office of Underground Coordination. Once they receive that approval, permits will be issued for the sewer main replacement. This has caused the start date of the project to be pushed back from its original start date in early September. Crews anticipate having a new permit issued on Monday and for the project to commence on the week of January 16
